Thanks for your suggestions David. I'm curious about Christopher's
autoreply message - it would be useful to set it to notify a sender only
once.....oh the wonders of modern technology!

I think one of the best ways is probably to unsubscribe from BP for the
duration of your absence, then resubscribe on your return. Or
alternatively, change your subscription so that you receive the email as a
daily digest, rather than as individual messages. I suspect that then only
BP will get your autoreply, not the individual author. Maybe one of the
list owners (][<en?) has a better idea.

To be fair to Christopher, I must apologise, because despite numerous
postings to BP over the past day or so, I have only received one autoreply.
Maybe he has a sophisticated system that only sends the message to each
individual the first time they send him an email? Maybe you do too?

If I had more time we could perhaps get into a discussion about whether
there really is a need for autoreplies to tell people we are away ... I am
undecided. Personally, I don't use one, but then I try to check my email
every few days when I am away. I have a message on my voicemail which says
I am away ...

Enjoy your absence from the office.

Cheers

david
