Anal doesn't quite cover grandma, for the furniture, it was slipcovers, covered with plastic, covered with old sheets, for the carpet it was plastic runners, "Stay On The Plastic!", with newspaper over the plastic to keep it from getting dirty, this was always taken to the extreme. In deference to Ken, I really would call what happened after the funeral a wake, rump or otherwise, Ken best explain the reference.

I think that's where the person is so ugly they put them in the casket face down.

Actually I think he was trying to avoid saying it was a "weird-ass wake" in respect for the situation. Thank you (and ][<) for the image though...

][<'s grandma was anal about protecting her furniture and carpet with plastic covers and runners so maybe the funeral home covered everything with plastic making for the weird scene. :-)

And thanks to Jim I got to see the message that had ][<'s original note. For some reason I didn't get it--maybe our anti-virus firewall didn't like the rump wake image either. Or maybe I deleted it without reading it.

I remember after my grandfather died (his wife having pre-deceased him) and after spreading his ashes at his favorite spot in the country (the fishing pond on an old farm he kept as a hobby) my immediate family sat in a local BBQ joint in the middle of the afternoon and reviewed some of the family stories that went untold for many years. A public memorial service was held a month or so later (different stories were told there).

Apparently she is Jim. BTW: What on earth is a "rump wake?" The picture
        I conjure ain't pretty. Ruth
