Cp,
Your post sounds like an essay from "The Book That Changed My Life". Edited
by Roxanne Coady (of RJ Julia's Independent book store in Madison, CT) and
Joy Johannessen, I highly recommend this book for a Holiday gift and
reading. All proceeds from the book go to a non-profit read-to-grow. All
71 essays are by authors. Great read...
Best,
Leland

Ken,

Otto and Max reminded me of a living BP world. It is odd
how rare the book is and how unknown the author is in North America and the
English speaking (reading) world. Internet reviews of plot don't do
justice to the writing.

It felt as if I was reading my own biography when living through that book.
Growing up in Ithaca with Cornell as playground and some of its people as
the childhood vision models of "normal", facilitated so much connection with
the
rest of the world that Discovery.... seems perfectly familiar. Wish I knew
what you are reading today so I could join you in delight. Every page is
still alive in my head.

Wendy's was the reading place for "My Name is Red" by Orhan Pamuk. This
review says it best:
"My name is Red is one of those books that make you feel sad after you have
finished reading because you know that a book as glorious as this will not
come along in quite a while. So read it slowly and it will reveal its hidden
mystery, symmetry and ecstasy."

Discovery.... is its peer. Couldn't read either slowly, but happily went
back
and back.

Ken, are you web-posting your writing-readings?

Now that Wal-Mart is selling organic food and the Canadian Tire hardware
store is selling clothing, will Wendy's start selling books?

Cheers to all on a happy Wendy's snowy day.
