I would hope that protection of cultural sites is at least somewhere on
the UN/NATO priority list in Kosovo.

Of course, let's not forget the systematic destruction of all Muslim
religious sites in Serb-controlled parts of Bosnia, the apparently
deliberate destruction of the library in Sarajevo by Serb nationalist
shelling, and the deliberate destruction of the Stare Most (a World
Heritage Site) by Croat forces in Mostar, among many, many other cultural
atrocities.

Yugoslavia's cultural heritage has been one of the chief victims of this
brutal and unnecessary war, which was promoted, provoked, and pursued by
unscrupulous leaders like Slobodan Milosevic and Franjo Tudjman.
