The gunpowder we used to make was 1/3 each :
The charcoal was easy (powdered charcoal briquettes), but the corner druggist
used to wonder what my mother was doing with all that saltpetre and flowers
of sulfur.  Guess I had an innocent 10-year-old face.

We also used to do something with manganese dioxide (the black stuff in a D
cell battery) and potassium permanganate (also from the drug store, I think).
 Anybody remember the rest of that one?  Was it magnesium filings?
