Quite some years back I had need for a private one-on-one with a top 
OSHA guy in Queens. Though it was not relevant to my problem one of the 
things that we discussed was that he has a problem in that those who are 
interested in working for OSHA usually have no clue about scaffold, 
particularly haning, or very much about construction, and though the 
intent is for them to inspect scaffolds, and this discussion was 
pertinent to temporary rigs, the problem was also that there were not 
enough inspectors to handle the load. Though it might make sense that 
the the inspectors be trained in scaffold inspection there are a whole 
lot more other things that they have to look for besides scaffolds. He 
seemed to be indicating the best they could hope to do was keep people 
worried that the bogey man might come and get them. So I do wonder how 
effective the state OSHA check is on house rigs? I suppose we get to 
stay tuned to see how this plays out.

I would like to know how Frank Gehry designs house rigs. Please don't 
tell me it involves blowing up a balloon with helium?
