Ralph:

Poor "Happy". Not even a little sympathy from her own gender.

One of the first times any one let me touch a historic stone sculpture, was
while working with the Cathedral Stoneworks(Cathedral St. John Divine), to
restore many of the polychrome limestone reliefs around Rockefeller Center.
To my mind, the complex represents one of the greatest synthesis of
architecture, public space and public art any where. It is almost a perfect
fit. A number of artists who would later achieve recognition, could find
creative work there during the Depression. Do we have Nelson to thank for
this? How much was he involved?

The rumor at the time was that he had something to do with the painting over
of the Diego Rivera mural that had been painted there. Rivera had depicted
John D. on the side of the greedy capitalists, in his depiction of world
economic history. Ever the astute politician, he later became quite the
patron of modern art.

Signed,

The Lurkers will inherit the earth........Nick
