My former husband was an auto mechanic before he became a telephone
lineman.  He always had a jar of vaseline in his tool box.  He used it on
battery cable connections to keep them from corroding.  We had an old hand
dug, fieldstone lined well that we used for several years before his
brother drilled us an artesian well for $125 and a transmission swap.  It
was a bit tricky to get the plastic pipe between the stones in the well but
he slathered it up with vaseline and got it through.  Ruth

coffee in a plant spryer to match aging on brick...
nail polish & lipstick to fill/color scratches @ wood doors & casework...
Also various shoe polishes....
keep a tube of vaseline in the top tray of your tool box for all sorts of
lubrication..
