Yup!

My friend built his house 27 years ago on cement posts. Only he didn't know
anything about mixing cement, and none of his friends who came by to watch
him make a fool of himself had the heart to tell him that, in the rainiest
spring on record, you either cover your sand pile or reduce the amount of
water in the mix. When, twelve years later, the pitch between the center of
the house and the corner where the books and records hung out reached
almost 1/2" to 1' (9" in 20' , to be exact) he went to see what happened to
the post. He still doesn't know. But at least he could still find the other
ones somewhere close to where they started out, and only two of them were
lying on their sides. Not bad out of nine. It only cost him $12,000.00 to
have the house lifted up and a frost wall put in. But, fortunately, the ell
that was supposed to be the livingroom hadn't yet been built, or the job
would have been much more complicated, and expensive. Unfortunately,
though, he and his wife still haven't agreed on a design for the livingroom
and the 27 year old tar paper on the north wall is starting to show its
age. But it could be worse. The livingroom could have been planned for the
south side, the weather side, and then the tar paper would have had to have
been replaced, and somewhere along the way he developed fear of heights.

Next.
