<<Yet FATHER feels prospectively guilty. Is FATHER cruel and unusual? Or is this CHARACTER-BUILDING experience for BOY, worth far more than $1042.38?

Oh please. My father had a cow when I had a $240 phone bill-- and yes-- I did have to pay it. (now granted, that was 15 years ago, and $240 didn't pay for as much air time then...) Telephone calls constitute "entertainment" in my worldview, and I was always responsible for my own entertainment.

Recommend son also check into telephone plan for low rates to Europe. May save father's sainity and son's checkbook.
