EXPERT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ASSESSMENT TEAMS

The NY Landmarks Conservancy is working with The National Trust for
Historic Preservation to identify preservation professionals willing to
volunteer for expert assessment teams to spend three to five days in New
Orleans when conditions permit.

Along with the indescribable human tragedy caused by Hurricane Katrina,
this is the largest preservation disaster America has ever experienced.
New Orleans helped initiate historic preservation in this country. Now
the rest of us must help preserve the city's large number of historic
homes and areas. While the Vieux Carre has escaped much of the flooding
that has inundated the rest of the city, other flooded sections contain
wonderful historic homes and religious buildings. Even buildings that
escaped flood damage could be vulnerable to a host of other problems.

If you are available to help: please e-mail alex herrera at
[log in to unmask] with your contact information and area of
expertise. The conservancy will collect information on all volunteers
and forward them to The National Trust.
