They may very well have. The local cultural historians were skeptical if
the Vikings had made any significant contribution as far inland as we
were. The Wiking kitsch, reminding me of something four decades less on
the authenticity scale than Weekee Watchee in quality, was an
interesting aspect of the visit... particularly when we were doing
things like focusing on a Power Point presentation from a Czech timber
framer (in real-time translation) pertaining to the identification if a
log had been hewn while laying on the ground or on trestles, based on a
study of the hewing marks found on Mideaval timber structures.
Considering the transition of 14th century technology while wondering
how to deal with 21st century technology provided an interesting contrast.

I paid attention to the electrical infrastructure and would say that it
shows remnants of 50 year old technology.
