Neglect by Award

The Baronet Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ appears to have been on a revival
streak until about the time it received an historic preservation award. The
short story is that the developer of the beachfront, unrelated to the theater,
went bankrupt and that resolution has been held up in the courts. This has
resulted in a zone of abandoned buildings that look like a war zone.

Do you know of other historic preservation projects that the local economy
suddenly fell out from under, or that never seem to get underway for lack of
public interest or funds?

Should the theater change the sign?
