They are easier to clear of paint when all gobbed over and you need to
remove. Also, they have that "olde fashion" look.

...why do people still use slotted screws (instead of the Head of Philip) at
all?    
 
Are they just "fun", like old rotary telephones and Sears catalogues in the
outhouse?
 
Or do they perform better than the newer version in some way, or in some
application?
