I fondly recall from these postings ( blasting media) why I got into
preservation ...I used to think it was visiting Jamestown in 1957 for the
anniversity of the ol " toon and the fact that my ancester was the first
governor" but talk of black powder brought an earlier image back where we
use to save and save our allowance jointly with my brothers and purchase well
made plastic Modell WW2 airplanes...B 24's and 25's also 17's complete with
all the decals and we would apply the paint job we would admire are handiwork
for a month or so hanging them from the ceiling and showing them off to
friends..then at an appointed date we would show everyone that built into the
construction of the model was a well placed cherry bomb.....then at the
appointed hour the cherrybomb was lit and let glide down from the top of the
3 story house....so dramatic was this event we photographed it as 8 yr
olds...needless to say it exploded in mid air..after which we secured the
site an collected every piece we could find carefully noting where it was
found...then over the next week carefully glue every piece into its
appointed place...and if enough were found repeat the process again.....
signed alls well that ends well
