This is kind of interesting, and it is a real challenge. We recently became
involved in some additional maintenance on a building which was coated 12
years ago. 12 years of New York City exposure have had an effect on color
of the finish. Question: Apply the original color to the new repairs or
match the new coating to the 12-year-old weathered finish?

They opted to apply the original color and let it "catch up", a decision
that surprises me, because it doesn't optimize appearance on day one, and I
have come to expect that customers demand immediate rather than delayed
gratification in an industry that all too often rejects colors even before
they are dry.
