Signore Brute-

You can drive to the quarries, and Cave di Fantiscritti east out of the town
of Carrara. Some big mother trucks use the road though, and it's steep so if
you can't drive a stick well, get an automatic.

As for the Dolomites, I've never hiked there, but spent a few weeks in the
Doldrums recently.
