I was going to cite the 18th century quote about New Jersey being "a
valley of humility between two mountains of conceit," but a few minutes of
Web searching turned up that phrase only in reference to North Carolina,
the "mountains of conceit" being Virginia and South Carolina, not
Philadelphia and New York as I had assumed.  Oh, well.
