Life is eventful here ...

Good news: I didn't see it, but apparently last night CNN Headline News
ran a story (about a minute long) about my web site, The Political
Graveyard. My friend who saw it wrote:

Absolutely, CNN Headline news -- Glenda and I were speecheless as
the familiar little headstone with the logo kept on coming to the
     screen. It was great.

Bad news: Around that same time, about 10:30 pm EST, anyone who tried to
access the web site got an error message, due to problems involving a
change to the web server's connection to the world.

Good news: The new connection is up as of this morning, and it is TEN
TIMES AS FAST as the old connection. So my web pages will load faster,
more traffic can be accomodated, etc. I'm really pleased not to be
experiencing any lag as I type mail online.

Bad news: An acquaintance of mine, Kurt Zimmer, an iconoclastic Ann Arbor
political figure (former city council member) whose wife was a co-worker
of my wife, was found dead yesterday, an apparent suicide. The political
community here is in shock. (I'm remembering the last time I saw him -- we
had a long talk at backyard party last summer -- he and I were almost the
only non-psychologists there -- he seemed to be doing extremely well,
having graduated I think first in his class at the Michigan business
school.) And this is already the *second* brilliant young man among my
acquaintances to shoot himself this year. Sigh.

Good news: Sarah, now 20 months old, has taken to pointing to herself and
saying "Sarah!" She knows more words than we can keep track of, more
every day. Did I mention that I put another picture of her online? It
was taken last fall at Tiger Stadium, at one of the last games ever played
there: http://potifos.com/images/sgsk-tig.jpg (she was about 14 months old
at the time of the photo).
