I like the smashed glass technique too, though it brought to mind the
challenge of scaling up to commercial quantities-- take the black-glass
vacant office building downtown and get a REALLY big hammer... well, you
get the idea.

But on a more serious note, waste glass recycling is a big problem,
apparently, and we have seen work being done to incorporate it into
concrete as a filler. Bond strength is one limitation, reduction of
concrete performance properties is also apparently a problem if loadings
get too high. We are finding some interesting uses, however.
