Frig for a Band Saw
I made a deal w/ Twybil that in exchange for his giving me a lead on locating
the use of a band saw that I would provide him with early citations of the
word "frig". Considering the general meaning of the word I think a
reciprocating saw may be more in line with the assignment.
<verb> 1598 J. Florio, in Farmer & Henley *Slang & Its Analogues* III 74:
Fricciare... to frig, to wriggle, to tickle.
<noun> 1786 R. Burns, in Farmer *Merry Songs* IV 282: Defrauds her wi' a frig
or dry-bob.
<euphemism> 1879 *Pearl* 103: Two prisoners were brought in... The Sergeant
requested orders regarding them. The Major merrily answered: "Oh, take them
away and frig them!"
frm *The F Word*, 2nd edition, editor Jesse Sheidlower, Random House, 1995.
