Landmarks Preservation Application 95-4895, filed 6/9/1995:

Premises: 800 Park Avenue (1920's apartment house)

Work:  Scraping and painting of wood frames and sash of wood windows ...
building has a total of 407 windows, of which 135 are replacement aluminum
double glazed with dark bronze finish.  Remaining 272 windows and wood.  It i
proposed to refinishe the wood windows in a dark chocolate brown colors to
more closely match the aluminum windows. [Italics mine]

[Note:  this building, designed in 1925 by Electus Litchfield, originally had
very light tan windows to complement the sophisticated brickwork.  ---
