Don't know how I missed that feature until now, although I don't use any

Tom,
Don't have this amp, but you would set bandswitch to remote position if you
were using the optional auto bandswitching stuff that lets the amp follow
the radio's frequency.
This was a more recent addition to the ALS-600 and wasn't around in first
production years. Don't know what year it was added.
