We don't actively encourage consumer accounts any more but she could start by looking at
http://www.ifbyphone.com You might also look at internet speech as well.

Subject: e-mail by phone

I am trying to help a lady who wants access to sending and receiving e-mail
by voice. I just thought about why not a e-mmail by phone system rather
than a computer based system? Does anybody know of anybody using one of
those services? Can I get in contact with them to figure out if this a good
recommendation? The Lady is around 80, and has family in South America. I
was using system access and it's voice mail which seemed a lot simpler than
typing in Spanish. This might be better yet.
