Hi Steve:
Yes, the Quadra was expensive, I bought it in a good business year!
The local club use it for contests also, so it gets well used.
Maintenance is no problem as I have a friend who used to work as a
maintenance guy for one of the major ham radio dealers over here!

Kevin (K7RX) has heard it!

David

Subject: Re: TW-1 to tune an amp?

Hi all,

Tnx for the input on my question. I hope others will also chime in with
their input. Going solid state is very tempting, but it is nice to know
that others have done the tube thing with success. I'm not afraid to tweak
a few knobs. i've tweaked a few in my day, but that's another story. My
fear is damaging expensive tubes. I do a lot of band hopping, so I'd be
doing a lot of tuning.

David: I am familiar with the Quadra, and I know it's a fantastic amp, but
is far out of my price range. I'm going to have to start in the boy's
department and work up.
