the vs3 will speak frequency and call sign from the TNC with DX clusters, no
computer required.
It laggs a bit though when lots of spots are coming through.
Its fun to set the radio to automatically change frequency to the most
recent spot....since if the dx cluster isn't filtered, the radio will change
frequencies about once a second.
You can also use the dx cluster portion of ham radio deluxe and click on the
spot and the radio will go to that frequency and mode for you.
As far as using the PC and digital/packet modes, just get someone to wire up
the 13pin accessory jack with the appropriate rx, tx and ptt wires and you
can be off and running...I think you can utilize the rs232 port for that as
well.
