John,
Last night, I stumbled upon something that looks even more interesting than
the AT-1000Pro, and costs only a little more. A company called Maxxcom
makes an auto-tuner with a frequency range from 100KHz to 250MHz. According
to their specs, it can handle up to 1000watts, and tunes up in 1/1200 of a
second. The most intriguing part is that there are no power cables, and it
tunes in receive as well as transmit. I don't understand the theory of
operation, but it's all explained in detail on their Web site,
www.maxxcom.com. I've ordered their 1000 watt tuner, so I'll give you a
full report when it arrives. Stay tuned.
Steve
