My Cousin took me to an empty parking lot and let me drive a Ford Escort 
that Susan and I rented when we were in Florida on vacation.

However, he never took his hand off the emergency brake.

And, you really need to drive with someone who really knows you and your 
involuntary movements.

My Cousin and I grew up together so he had no reservations about trying it.
