You could just about load up anything and make it work. There were these
guys here in Toronto that loaded up a flag poll. They had good hite I don't
know where they had this flag poll hooked to actually but my understanding
is they were good and high up. I believe it was possible. When you think
about it some of the verticals often sold for hf are just simple pieces of
fishing poll with wire threw it. All of the shake spear stuff and of course
the Antron are pretty much just fishing polls. And of course it goes with
out saying that what you can't make up for with antenna performance you
always have power. It's just that what take you ten thousand watts threw a
coat hanger to talk to someone a hundred miles from you might be
accomplished by your neibor who's using 40 watts threw a probably tuned long
wire. The only thing I can think of that annoys me about the foundation
license; the calls are a bit longer. Don't those calls have an extra letter
or more? Ok that's annoying for dx. I hate throwing my call out and hearing
the person completely mess it up after I've repeated it 8000 times. To the
point that others on frequency are trying to relay. Ok and then to have an
even longer call? goodnight!

as in, you don't have money for a rig, or does the license cost money over
there?
