While we are on the subject of tuning adisaids, I have a rf voltmeter attached to an oscillator which I have used for 34 years, well not exactly the same unit, but the similar design.

It was manufactured by the chief engineer of a local television station on vector board in a small blue (sometimes grey) bud box. the original was about 3 inches on all sides with a short loop of coax with a pl259 on the end and an so238 on the metal box. this was connected in line with your antenna and tuned for maximum pitch. As we increased from novice to higher powers a resistor was added to lower the base pitch of the device. they worked quite well for me on my-60,dx-40,hwadventurer, swan 270b, Viking 2 and one, swan 350, several military transmitters of forgotten lineage, a Western electric of some kind, and a central radio of another, base and mobile, tr-3, ic-701 (though no tuning for rig itself but rather output of antenna tuner,) and ts-430s.

My current unit is in a bud 1.5x 1.5x 2 with a single so-239 attached to a short peace of coax to a tee in line with the antenna lead to the tuner, or on the output of same.

As the Elmer who built this has passed away I will soon want to insure a replacement but the circuit is simple though I doubt that I will attempt to do it myself. All of these units use a 9 vdc battery. Aside from some rough treatment from time to time and occasional melting of components on bad swr days they have been great. I can recall the smells now grin.

thank you!
