Well, since it has a male voice in it, did you forget to pat him on the
back of his cooling fins for all of the great work he has done? Seriously,
i haven't heard of it doing that. Seems to me that it would have to come up
talking as soon as the chip is put in. Try a reset, what is there to lose?
everything can be found again. If the reset doesn't help, I have the number
for the Kenwood Tech line. I had better help with the guys at AES. 73.

Speaking of the 71a, I just turned on my 71-a this morning and it
is not speaking to me. We didn't have a fight or anything, I
promise. It just is not speaking. Does anyone know if it is
possible to turn on the speech without sighted assistance? I
never to my knowledge, turned off the voice guide.. It talked
just fine a couple of days ago when I last used it. Should I try
a reset of some kind, full, or partial? Thanks, from Jim, a very
baffled ham! WA6EKS
