Hi;
I expected a significant difference in the quality of the dsp in the 2000
versus the ts480. I guess you never know.
There really isn't much of a price difference when you add the cost of two
optional filters and the microphone adaptor. I realize you only need one
filter but knowing me I'd probably buy both the cw and ssb filters. It
would be interesting to know why someone at kenwood decided it was time to
change connectors. If my understanding is correct, the mike connector is
very different, the power cord is different, and tell me what they use for
the ptt/alc connector for a amplifier. I suspect that too has changed.
Can you download and take a look at the software without connecting the
radio? The other reservation would be that it doesn't speak pl tones as the
kenwood 707 does. I have gotten used to the software approach while using
the ict90, something I never thought I would say. I presume that the
software would let you select your tone and is jfw usable.
Richard
