Butch,

I have the same thing on my desktop as you describe being on your 
laptop.  This is a real stab in the dark, but wonder if you have 
graphics enabled under the media advanced options of internet 
explorer.  I think mine are turned off.

Also, you might try a screen redraw with insert backslash when that 
silver lite screen comes up.

I sure wish they'd get their act together and stop screwing around 
with the site.  It's a pain!!
