Michael,

I've used the G5RV from 65 feet to as low as I have mine now at 35 feet and 
with the tuner, it is a great performer.  I use it on 80 meters as well and 
have worked a lot of DX over the years with it.  Of course, any antenna 
works better the higher you can get it but I've been comparing it to my R7 
vertical on the roof at 20 feet for over a year and there is no signal that 
doesn't hear with the G5RV better by an S unit.  People make fun of the G5RV 
and say it is a compromise antenna but I've not found that to be the case. 
I have, strangely enough, about 150 KHz in the 75 meter phone band that is 
less than 2 to 1 and on 20 meters, I have about the entire CW band 2 to 1 or 
less.  A tuner is required, on the other hand, for it to work and to perform 
well.
