Well, I ttried checking into the round table yesterday afternoon from the
RV, and the effort was not very successful.

I could hear Steve (KW3A), but he obviously couldn't hear me.  I did have a
short exchange with Glenn (KA9YIU) in Wisconsin, but we were having trouble
hearing each other as well.  The loudest person for me was Kris (WB9SLM) in
Southwest Illinois, but she was having trouble copying people because of
lots of thunderstorm QRN.

I am now convinced that 4 p.m. Eastern time on a Saturday afternoon might
not be the best for our net, at least during the Spring and Summer months,
given the purpose of the round table.

Also, during the late Spring and Summer months, I typically will be camping
in the RV, and will be limited to 100 watts and the screw-driver antenna.

I think we have two choices here:

1.  Most preferred--We could move the net time back to 2300 Z (7 p.m.
Eastern), and try it on or near 7.185, just to see if the difference in time

improves things substantially?  If this turns out to be our preference,
we'll need to spread the word, and we'll also need several of us to monitor
7.185 at the later time to see if there are any nets or other activities
going on.

2.  Least preferred--Our other option would be to just cancel the net during

the late Spring and Summer months, with a plan to resume it in the Fall.  I
say this is the least-preferred option, because the net is a great deal of
fun, and others have benefitted from it.  The problem is one of available
net controls.  I am reluctant to commit to net control while camping,
because I just don't know if I could adequately do the job with 100 watts
and my screw-driver antenna on 40 meters.

I'm open to any thoughts and suggestions here, so please feel free to chime
in.
