Hi all,

I've been a ham for about a year and my husband has just joined me. I've
been reading this list since August - lots of interesting stuff.

Now to my questions:

When my husband was on the Foundation License course (the entry level into
amateur radio in the UK for anyone who doesn't know) he saw a hand held
which he rather liked, particularly for the sound quality. It is a Yaesu
VX6; have any of you had any experience of it - I'm speaking from the point
of view of two people with not enough sight to read a display, one of us
totally blind. Of course I know that with a little effort many of us can
use most things but I'd be interested in any possible pitfalls you may have
encountered and anyway I'm a curious person <smile>.

My other question: There's at least one Icom with a Morse output
synthasizer; well, here's where I get mystified. We came across some info
for an IC-T90 BUT also know of an IC-E90. Does anyone know if they are two
different hand helds or just have slightly different names depending on what
part of the world they're from. I'd personally like a radio like that as at
least it does give some indication of what frequency you're on and anyway
I'm trying to learn morse so it'd be an incentive.

That's about it for now; I'm not much of a writer so it could be ages
before I contribute again.
