I've had to fix, replace actually, a lot more computers over the years than
anything else I ve even heard of. It's not just the power supply, believe
me. These days, there's always current through that mother board and they're
very sensitive. A lot of times it's something stupid like modems and lan
cards and such,b ut I've seen several friend mother boards where it came
through those cards, and just as many from power supplies where little is
anything else in the house was damaged. Usually if it's the power supply it
came on, there's at least 1 other thing in the house damaged like a TV or
something but not always. I will say, TV's are close, they seem to get
damaged a lot in lightning storms. I wouldn't miss mine though so I don't
worry about it, but my computer, it gets unplugged for all those storms.
Right after I disconnect my antennas for my radio equipment.
