Steve, thanks for your views. I updated to 2.1 a while back and I do think
it is well worth the change especially if your chasing D X using split
which is very often. Thanks and 73

Hi Ed,

Steve WA1RTB and I were chatting about this after tonight's echo link
net. It was a pretty seamless changeover from one to the other for
me. Other than the addition of some more pf keys and totally
different menus, controls are pretty much the same.

The internal changes of an additional roofing filter, and some tweaking
of the DSP makes it a bit more quiet on RX. I found the NR 1 on
the 590s to be very useful, but it is just a bit better on the SG. Not
a tremendous change in performance, but just a little fine tuning as
you would expect after several years of the S model.

The fact that the first menu speaks the firmware version is a neat
touch, and something they should have done long ago.

I did like the change in firmware of the S that lets you set up split
operation very quick, and of course that is also implemented in the SG.
