I have the ts-870s and it in my opinion has the best receiver audio of all 
Kenwoods.

I have owned the ts-940, ts-950sdx, ts-450sat, ts-440sat ts-2000 and a 
couple of Icoms.  The ts-870 sounds great on a old Jensen stereo speaker and 
needs no filtering.
