I haven't investigated higher power solid state amps but its a lot of 
cash for a few db.  I haven't either but why not just join handihams and 
use their remote base for almost nothing?
thinking about my current noise level remote may have its advantages but 
I'm not so sure I want to fight with my pc just to get on the air.
