one of the first things I did was get on the elecraft mailing list and 
ask just how accessible the rig actually is, and how easy it would be to 
build one. so far, the accessibility issue hasn't come up as yet but I 
suggest for those blind hams that want to play with a k3 get themselves 
on the list and make some polite inquiries. I was initially looking for 
a radio I could take portable and do hf work with but as I stated in an 
earlier post, the icom IC703 isn't available in australia anymore and 
the yaesu ft817 is out of the question, as nice as it appears to be. 
anyways, do what I did and subscribe to their list and ask. it's all any 
of us can do.
