The Blind Programming listserv is now at
  [log in to unmask] .  It is a high-traffic list which
sometimes has really good information.

The general advice for Windows is to use standard Windows controls rather
than custom controls.  There are ways to work around this to some extent.  I
know that GW Micro has some information for programmers on their website; I
suspect that Freedom Scientific would, also.  A developer can download and
run a demo of a screen reader, although he will need some coaching on how
best to evaluate the results.
