why not get some 220 equipment? or 900 meg or 1.2 gig or even 50 megs? all
of those seem to be terribly under used everywhere except huge cities like
LA or new york.
there are some excellent possibilities in the 900 meg band for mobile
use...less power required, smaller antennas, cheaper radios and i think,
better local coverage in most cases. By better local coverage, i mean, you
can hit a 900 meg repeater with five wats from inside a city a whole lot
better then you can hit a repeater with a 5 watt HT on VHF...it really shows
its good uses in an urban center where there are alot of buildings and
structures to block signals...900 or 1.2 megs can get through that stuff a
bit easier then VHF typically can. The only down fall to freqs up there is
that you need the repeaters antennas up quite high for them to be effective
whereas with vhf they only need to be around 20/30 feet up to get the job
done.
Regards
Colin
