I heard a similar argument about being disaplinned enough to keep track
of who's turn it was on a 2 meter impromptue net on a repeater.
personally, I think in the long run amateur radio is exactly that.
amateur. and while there's a certain level of decorum expected on the
bands, it's not a given. there is fun to be had there also. However,
that doesn't give everyone license to carry on like a bunch of, dare I
swear on here, CBers.
I've noticed that hams generally police themselves and keep pirates at
bay by simply not acknolodging them. and if someone is smart enough to
pirate and not give away the fact they're doing that, they'll generally
treat them with the same curticy everyone else is extended. if however,
the supposed smart pirate is found out and detected, then they're
promptly ignored and rightly so. as stated before, people passed exams
to gain the privilages to transmit on these bands. so let us all be the
ladies and gentlemen we know we can be and deal with things in a
civilised manner. and if someone asks a dumb question, then answer them.
it's not going to kill anybody. there's doubtless others out there that
have forgotten more than the questioner will ever possibly know.
just my 2 bob worth.
