Yes, I agree with this.
Paula recently bought a new fancy coffee machine. It just wouldn't work
correctly because the valve that was supposed to regulate the water
distribution was not included in the package.
She wanted me to contact the manufacturer, which surprisingly did have an
office or at least a local phone contact so I did as I was told.
The manufacturer rep I spoke with showed no concern whatsoever. He just said
I needed to return it for replacement. Luckily, we still had the receipt.
She went back to the retailer and asked them to replace it.
They insisted that they had to check it and be certain that a problem
existed, so they took it back to their work bench, and confirmed that
nothing would stop the water from falling straight through, so with their
ridiculous criteria having been satisfied, they provided a replacement on
the spot.
The new unit works as promised, and everyone is happy. Just your typical
Chinese goods story.

the heating element is burnt out...toss it and buy a new one...coffee makers
are pretty much disposable these days.
It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that parts aren't available for the
unit.
Companies simply replace, they do not repair for warranty claims.
And sadly, gone are the days when a kitchen appliance would last 20
years...like my dad's old toaster that made toast at least twice a day for
more than 20 years...after that, he's had 4 in 15 years.
I've got a fridge in my house that is the main kitchen fridge...it was made
in the early 90's, so more than 20 years old...it's still ticking along
beautifully...though it likely sucks down electricity like a pig. On the
other side of the coin, we buy fridges on a weekly basis in my company and I
see 3 and 4 year old fridges totally failing.
They won't even fix them, we just take the broken one back and collect a new
one.
