Unless you use a fuse, 
your gear may end up fused.

Use the right size fuse,
Too high, 
Your gear might fry,
Too small,
It might not run at all

I use the rig runner as well for that reason, it fuses everything, especially the TNC, and TW1 and 2 meters and stuff that's not fused, I think my 900 MHz radio had no fuse in the cord either come to think but it does now. Very worth while investment.
