Hi Steve.
The R7 is my first HF antenna so I cant compare it to a dipole.
I intend to put up a G5Rv or something that will let me run more than 100 
watts on 75.
The R7 does better on 75 than I thought it would.
I agree it doesn't work as well as an antenna that is designed for that 
band, but it will do until I can get something else up.
