If you're going to use the dipole as a mono band and it has no traps, 
ladder line is much better than coax.  Yes the tuner can match the radio, 
but the swr on the coax will be quite high and a real impedence mismatch. 
You'll lose a lot in heat loss and line loss.  Although the swr will be 
high on the ladder line, because it is not shielded and is a balanced 
line, it will radiate some, but just because you use coax doesn't mean it 
will transfer the power to the dipole if the swr is quite high and the 
feed impedance of the dipole is much higher than the 50 ohm coax.  If you 
have the room, a windom antenna has always been my favorite.  I forget the 
exact formula, but you cut it for a half wave on the lowest frequency. 
You off center feed it with ladder line or 300 ohm or whatever, and use a 
tuner.  A very nice mono band antenna.
