Can I ask a dum question at this point?

How do you know when a tuner arcs?

What indications does it give you, other than the smell of smoke if it arcs
too much?

I just had to ask; don't laugh too loud!

I owned an MFJ KW tuner once, I forget the model number, but it was the one
below their roller inductor. It arked at times when using my SB220.
