you'll have to wire a PTT switch of some fort absolutely. There is one pin 
in the mic plug which switched to ground will do it, though you can also if 
you want hook a PTT to the accessory jack on the back of the radio. Unless 
you want to hit the send button or use vox all the time which I sure 
wouldn't. If you use an EQ from w2ihy, it has an RCA PTT jack on the back 
and the fandom power is there with that so that might be an option too.
